3. The theme of a work is not its subject or topic, but rather what that subject means – what idea or insight it reveals about human existence – what is the author’s message to the planet? Themes are revealed gradually as we learn about the characters and their predicament. Keep a LIVING post (one which you can keep adding to every time you log on to your blog) about what you think the play’s theme(s) is/are.
I think that the theme of this play/story is peace. The reason is that in Secret Annex, all the people are just longing for peace. Whenever they heard good news telling that they might be free, then they will become really happy and just hug each other and become crazy about it. Also I noticed that in the beginning and at the end of the movie, it shows birds flying around the bright happy blue sky. And I think that the birds means "peace."
